Tex-Ann Directors
Amanda Caldwell is in her 16th year of teaching. She is a dance teacher in the Crockett Dance Department and the Director of the Tex-Ann Dance Team at Crockett High School in Austin, TX. She is a 2003 graduate of Westlake High School in Austin where she was a two-year member of the Hyline dance team. She graduated from Texas State University, San Marcos in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Dance with teacher certification. While at Texas State University, Amanda was a member of the Texas State Strutters for three years. As a Strutter she got the opportunity to perform at half times during the San Antonio Spurs games as well as travel to Monterrey, Mexico to perform in their Super Classic Fútbol Grand Opening in front of an audience of more than 50,000 fans. She was also very active in the dance department at Texas State, taking part in various student and faculty pieces as well as dancing in the department’s performance company, Orchesis. Amanda has had the honor of being a choreographer for the Austin ISD Summer Theatre Series (STS) for the past five summers. With Austin ISD's STS she has choreographed Newsies and In the Heights, and has co-choreographed Shrek the Musical, Mamma Mia, and The Addams Family. Amanda is excited to be joining Austin ISD's STS for her sixth summer co-choreographing Mary Poppins! She still enjoys taking classes when possible and will catch any Broadway show that comes into town. In addition to her dance degree she is also Physical Education K-12 certified, Special Education K-12 certified, and first aid & CPR/AED certified. She has been a member of TDEA (Texas Dance Educators Association) since 2008 and is extremely happy to be at Crockett working in the Fine Arts department.
Marissa McGraw is originally from San Antonio, Texas but grew up in Austin, Texas where she attended Crockett High School. She was a member of the Tex-Anns Dance Team for three years and then went on the join the World-Famous Texas State University Strutters in San Marcos, Texas for four years. Marissa graduated from Texas State in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a teacher certification and a minor in Communications. She then moved to Houston, Texas to become the head director and founder of the Show Stoppers dance team at G. C. Scarborough High School. After four years of building a successful and award-winning team at Scarborough she moved on to be the Head Director of the Heights High School Redcoats Dance team in 2016. Taking the Redcoats from District champions to Regional Champions to State Champions and finally to National Champions in 2021.
In 2022, Marissa Cantu-Harkless became Marissa McGraw by marrying her husband, Arthur in Houston, Texas. Together they decided to move back to Marissa’s hometown of Austin, Texas where she accepted the position of Assistant Director of her first dance team, the Crockett Tex-Anns. Marissa and Arthur welcomed their baby girl, Mya Grace, on January 25, 2023 and have been enjoying every second of being parents to Miss Mya.
Mrs. McGraw is not only excited and honored to once again be a part of the Tex- Anns Dance team, but also to be a part of the Crockett High School Family as the PALS coordinator and teaching dance.
